151 Foley Brothers Citrennial United States IPA 4.1

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Sweet nose tropical fruit, hey and spring flowers. Hazy unfiltered medium gold body topped with moderate had and moderate lacing. Surprisingly creamy mouth, slick and nice, with good carbonation. Unusual flavor profile on this one. Very tart but neutral bittereing, not picking up the city too much which is kinda nice. Some sour fruit, VERY dry finish. Not a ton of flavor very bitter in the end.

152 Founders All Day IPA United States IPA 3.5

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8

Nose of pine and peach and apricot. Pours a medium yellow with frothy very white head, a little "sudsy". Mouth is thin and carbonation perhaps a bit underdone. Flavor is so-so. Moderately hoped for an IPA, minimal malts, you can taste the pine and thats really about it. Lowish on the alcohol level (the did call is All Day Session Ale, but its still present in the ending, finish fairly clean and astringent.

153 Founders Breakfast Stout United States Coffee Stout 3.9

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Having a late night breakfast, best time for that isn't it. I am not getting much coffee in the nose, some chocolate, some sweet fruit, chocolate covered strawberry? Aroma does not last long. Opaque very dark brown body topped with carmel colored head that is nice and frothy with good retention and very good lace. Mouth is a bit think for my taste, not creamy and certainly not something that " you can drink this ale with a fork." Carbonation is nice, just wish it had more body. Flavor is quite nice. Good bit of sour fruit, its the predominate flavor in mid taste. Some nice hop bitterness in the front end, hints of chocolate towards the end with a dry finish that hints at coffee. No flavors as big as the brewers description above would indicate. Alcohol very well masked with just a slight warming after. Don't get me wrong this is very tasty. Actually pretty vinous. A sweet brew with a dry finish. Very very drinkable, perhaps too much so, could be dangerous. Better as it warms, coffee predominates, pretty complex, pretty nice brew.

154 Founders Centennial IPA United States IPA 2.8

Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

Maybe I got a bad 6, oured the first one out, second one just as bad. Aroma of watered down cough syrup, funky fruit. Clear medium copper body with minimal white head with no lace. Medium mouth, best thing about this beer. God awful flavor, tastes like aluminum chlorhydrate especially in the finish. Will have to try this again sometime, something way wrong here. RERATE 12/12/2013 First one must have been spoiled. (original review1.8) Nose is still odd; indistinct fruit, some vanilla, some honey, but acceptable. Pours with not much head and very fogged body that is a deeper amber then most IPA's, little lace. Mouth is about right for an IPA a bit slick though. I still get a hint of cough syrup in the flavor but not as awful as the previous review. And i still get that chemical/aluminum in the finish, decent hops and malt but somethings still off here. Alcohol not masked. Will try this one more time sometime, but not soon.

155 Founders Dark Penance United States American Black Ale 3.4

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6

Surprisingly mild nose, fig, burnt sugar, touch of malt, and some floral notes .Dark black body with a hint of ruby, 2 finger head that subsides rapidly, good lace. Mouth is medium and clean. Flavor is a bit timid. VEry nice bitter towards the finish which pivots to a bit of sweet at the very end. Aftertaste of cherry pit, almost like faint cough syrup. Some surprising raw grain flavors, alcohol pretty well masked. Its OK but really is making a beer black and an alcohol bomb a decent target to aim for? If so well done, but I think not.

156 Founders Pale Ale United States American Pale Ale 3.8

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Vanilla, lemon, lavender and a touch of bread in the nose, nice nose. Pours a foggy pale copper body topped with a moderate white head with some retention and little lacing. Carbonation is very nice in the mouth which is medium body and coats the palette nicely. Flavor profile is spot on for an APA. Considerable malt backbone, none of the butteryness of an English Pale, nicely bitter for the style, fairly neutral in flavor with the hops just predominating, dry finish with a bit of bitter. Well done.

157 Founders Porter United States Porter 3.8

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8

Nose is vinous toffee and some orange citrus notes and toasty malt. Pours an opaque dark brown body that is topped with a pale carmel colored had that is medium and leaving a nice skim coat and a hint of lace. Mouth is medium, creamy, and chewy, nicely carbonated. Carmel malts in the flavor are a bit overwhelmed by piney hops some hint of ripe fruit, a dash of sweetness, and the finish is fairly dry and hints of bitter chocolate. Interesting to try to determine the diff between stout and porter, way back stout meant stronger porter. Nowadays they are brewed in so many different ways, I guess I would say this is just a bit thiner than a stout. Fun article on this topic here http://www.beerconnoisseur.com/porter-versus-stout This is pretty decent stuff. I do like my stouts and porters to intensify as the warm slightly, and this one is becoming a bit well, a bit more of all of the above. Nicely done.

158 Framing Hammer United States Baltic Porter 4.2

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Hints of coffee and chocolate and raisin in the nose. Pours an opaque deep deep brown body with a caramel-colored head that is decent and has nice retention and very nice lace. Mouth is creamy and full bodied with a nice slickness. Favor is on the sweet side with again, hints of chocolate and coffee and cotton candy but its nicely battered as well, very nice hop level at 45 IBU. Finish is surprisingly clean and balanced. 10% abv is well masked, the alcohol is just a bit warming. WELL DONE! Side Note; BeerPal forces porters to be listed as ales and then describes them as usually lagers, which this one is,,,,, whats up with that?

160 Friars' Brewhouse Monastery Ale United States Brown Ale 4.1

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8

REceived as a secret santa gift. Not much info out there, they don't have a real website. Big malty nose with sweet roasted caramel notes coming through. (since I posted it I called it a Brown Ale, but they are rumored to claim that it is brewed in a Saison/FArmhouse style, go figure.) Floral hops in the nose, lavender? Great nose. Pours a deep copper body that is clear and topped by a reasonable head with unbelievable retention and nice lace. The mouth on this is creamy and full-bodied, slightly slick, chewy, and has a low fizz factor. Tastes like a brown ale gone slightly sweet. You get hit with major roasted malt, a cotton candy sweetness, followed with floral hops. The finish is just slightly bitter. The aftertaste has a slightly objectionable chemical taste high on the roof of the mouth so it gets a 7 (I think its a strange way the hops are combining with the sugars), otherwise would have been a 9. Fun beer!

161 Full Sail IPA United States IPA 3.3

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

Very floral nose, very English Pale Ale nose; nice malts some vanilla slight pepper. Nice pale copper body toped by decent head with moderate lace. Slightly thin mouth. Flavor is like a very good IPA that has been ever so slightly watered down; bitter is a bit weak, malts are Ok, not a whole lot happening but nothing bad either. Sessionable and perhaps a good beer to intro a macroswiller to IPA land.

162 Full Sail Session Premium Lager United States Lager 3.0

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6

Not much nose, some grass. Pours lager-like clear pale gold body with minimal head that has good retention and no lace. Mouth is fairly creamy, with a medium body. Flavor as pale as its body. Nothing at all going on but nothing really bad either. NOT complex, pale malts and pale hops. I guess its sessionable just like water is.

Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

Orange, honey, watermelon in the nose. Hazy gold body topped with short lived white head and no real lace. Mouth is a little creamy, carbonation well done. Peach and orange present in the initial taste, malt is minimal and neutral, a high tang at the back of the mouth, bitter fish almost going medicinal. Not bad, not great.

Nice nose true to his word passion fruit and Peach and some floral maybe hibiscus. Hazed light gold body topped by decent off white head moderate retention no lace. Mouth is a touch thin possibly undercarbonated. Tropical flavors fade fast leaving a bit of aspirin and astringency. Finish is dry aftertaste minimal. Could use more malt

168 Gearys Hampshire Special Ale United States English Pale Ale 3.6

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

Mild nose of malt and citrus sits. Beige head that is minimal with OK lace on top of dark copper body. Mouth is medium carbonation a touch flat. Some biscuit and chocolate in the flavor firmly hopped for an English Pale, deep ripe fruit, lots of pine in the finish, pretty good brew. 7% alcohol is well masked, there is a touch of warming at the end, finish is very clean and dry.

169 Gearys London Porter United States Porter 3.8

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Sweet nose, choclate, prunes, brown sugar, a touch of hoppy pine. Frothy carmel colored head sits on top of opaque black body (with hints of ruby at the edges)and leaves moderate lace. Motuhfeel is medium bodied and a bit slick and maybe just a bit too fizzy. There is a lot of flavor in ths porter pretty solid malt backbone (i am guessing both toasted and crystal)starts bitter but hits chocolate and coffee pretty fast then goes almost baked grapefruit with cimamon and brown sugar, finishes much dryer than expected. A touch of alcohol in the aftertaste. NIcely down, although its the first porter I have drunk in perhaps 10 years, used to drink em up in Canada summers at a camp, but thats another story, remeber them being less hoppy than this.

170 Gearys Pale Ale United States English Pale Ale 4.1

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9

I always pick up a six or two when I visit the in-laws in Maine, this is the first time I took some home to review. Ton of malt and yeast in the nose when first poured, when that blows off it reveals a nose of floral hops, some citrus, some spice, a sweet very nice nose. A bit of a surprise with the light brown body, very clear and nice carbonation bubbling up the glass. I moderate slightly creamy off-white head that is fairly short lived but leaves a nice thick skim coat. Very nice lacing. A very full, for a pale ale, mouthfeel that is silky and creamy, really nicely done! There is a lot of sweetish malt in the taste but its very well balanced with an astringent hoppiness. There is also a fruity presence in the middle of the taste and the alcohol is also present, leaving a nice warming feeling. This may be the best pale I have encountered. This one is walking the line between an American Pale and an English ESB. Back when I was a kid, in 73, I spent a month in London. Ate exclusively at the pubs and drank a whole lot of "bitter". Didn't know what that really meant then, this was long before American craft brewing caught fire. It was exclusively on draught and I have no idea what brewers it was coming from, I have always wished I could taste it again now. I think this beer comes close, perhaps a bit maltier. It also took me a while to get into the swing of the beer being served less than cold. I'm gonna let the last of this Geary's warm a bit for a final tasting. Hmmm, it likes to be a bit on the warm side, the flavor really blossoms and gets more complex. The imported English yeast and malts (I am tasting a hint of the chocolate malt now)is shining through and, in my opinion, putting most American pales to shame! Great brew and great session brew!

171 Gentle on my Mind United States IPA 3.6

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Not much nose here, faintly tropical fruit...gentle perhaps. Soft gold body is well hazed (NEIPA) topped by a frothy white head that has little lace but leaves a lasting skim coat. Mouth is creamy and slightly under-carbonated. This is indeed gentle in the flavor. Very very drinkable with no outstanding qualities. Nice slightly bitter finish, subtle all the way, unique. IF this is what they set out to do (as the name suggests) then they did it well.

172 Georg Schneider’s Wiesen Edel-Weisse Germany Hefeweizen 3.9

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Just a hint of banana in the nose and also a hint of smoke and sour orange and clove and pepper. Foggy gold body is appropriate with a somewhat smallish white head for the style with mediocre retention and lace. Mouth NOT as slippery as I would expect, but does have excellent carbonation, if pretty full for a hefe and almost chewy. Very sourdough yeast flavor, very different lots of orange and clove and lemmon and just very tart and sour, a ton of wheat in the flavor, and a bit of bubble gum. Hints of nuts along the way. Finishes with a surprising amount of hops bite that heads towards grapefruit. This is an odd hefe but very tasty!

173 Ghost Island United States Imperial IPA 4.2

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Very strong tropical fruit in the nose with some pine lurking in there as well also a bit of cotton candy. Medium copper colored body tapped by a two-finger whitehead that lasts well and leaves good lace. Mouth is surprisingly creamy and slightly oily. Flavor reminiscent of heady topper. Bitter predominates. Fairly strong malt background some biscuit some green herbs as well, perhaps a bit more green than tropical. Slightest stringency towards the end hint of aspirin. Finishes clean long and drying. All in all a very tasty Brew.

Flavor is clean with alcohol quite well masked. Well balanced with a tart slightly bitter finish, not a lot of malt, surprisingly, some tangerine, some warming. Really pretty nice!

175 Good People India Pale Ale United States IPA 3.9

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9

Nose is all grapefruit. Darkish for an IPA its a medium copper with decent white head and decent retention and lacing. Mouth is medium carbonation spot on. Flavor is all grapefruit and a touch sweet from the carmel malts, interesting. Almost tastes like they took a pale ale and poured in some grapefruit juice and then a touch of brown sugar, but since they are good people I assume they didn't. Ya know what? They got a niche here, its a distinctive AIPA. Finish is very clean, nice but odd job....no offense Mr. Bond. This sucker grew on me, I even love the ugly macro-looking cans. By the way , this beer currently scores lower than its lowest individual score!!!!!! ??????
