As a lover of Belgian beers, I don't mind sweetness in a beer, but the Caramel Porter just had no subtlety - it was too sweet and it hits you over the head with the carmel flavor. You simply can't taste the beer.

Not what I expected from a quality brewer like Saranac. Perhaps I was expecting a more scotch ale quality, but I just didn't think it tasted very good.

Once a light beer, always a light beer, but this is still one of the best light beers I have ever had. Admittedly, this is like saying "these are the best monkey brains I've ever eaten" - it's still monkey brains, but if you have to drink light beer, I would go for this one.

I have only had this a few times but I found it to a very interesting and complex beer. Very strong flavor - probably not for everyone. It is supposed to imporve with age, so perhaps I will give that a try.
