This beer was over bourbonated. There was a complete lack of balance between the bourbon and stout. Later batches approached a better balance. The beer itself was a tasty malt roasted flavor stout, but it was hard to get through all the bourbon.

Disclaimer: I brew and drink this everyday...I feel I can review this beer because I did not formulate it. I do work with David Peirce who did. This beer has wonderful head retention and mouthfeel. A hoppy pale pressing the verge of IPA with the generous ammount of hops used, but also has a nice big malty body to balance things out. I drink this everyday. The quintessential session beer for me. I could only compare this to Bells 2 hearted but slightly less sweet with more of a ghany hoppiness.

The first barleywine I ever tried, and will likely be the last. It has decent enough head retension for a beer of it's strength. The flavors are a wonderful mertage of spicy fruity hops and fantastic sweet malt that gives this puppy a huge flavor explosion. But don't take my word for it, 2 gold medals at the Great American Beer Fest, 2 gold medals at the Chicago Real Ale Fest... We should be brewing a new batch in the fall of 06' at the Main St location...

Tasty triple. Strong alcoholic nose and shows somewhat in flavor as well. I would be hard pressed to tell this one from the real deal in a blind taste test. Tim Rastetter formulated this recipe at the now defunct Brew Works in Newport KY.

A gift to stouts. Big chewy malt flavor that fades into the chocolate roasty goodness. I believe this one was formulated by Tim Rastetter while working at the now defunct Brew Works in Newport Kentucky. Tim is now at Hofbrau House Newport.
