Avondale Pachyderm Wheat Ale

Website Comments by CYRENAICA

I added this beer ONCE......it shows up in the Newest Beers list FOUR times. It would be nice if my employer paid me once....and it ended up deposited into my account four times.

As an American Lager fan, I think the store's problem is that many beer drinkers are used to American, and usually Adjunct, Lagers. Bittersweet Grapefruit isn't a characteristic that they want in a brew. Sure, fans of Craft IPA's have a very different perspective...but how many of them are there in the general public? Old Tankard easily goes for twice the price in some areas, but obviously not around here. [8)] [:)] As a Beer Enthusiast. I can appreciate Old Tankard. I wouldn't have guessed that it was around in the 1930's. Seems much more targeted to a 21st century Craft Consumers' market, doesn't it? Having said that, I wouldn't want to be stuck on a desert island with only grapefruit-y beers! [:0]

Here's a negative review of Old Tankard. Most I've seen are favorable. Doesn't mean OT is right for everybody. [;)] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2PTHbUQsF0 Don't know where these guys are, but they call Genesee "Jeh-KNEE-See" In their review of Hamm's. [:D] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oTqwsu366w

[^] http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/boulder-beer-shake-chocolate-porter/232983/ Guys & Gals, This is NOT really a dessert beer imo! The aftertaste: Like I drank a cup of black coffee, and it lingers. Mine sez Enjoy by JAN 07 2017. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPOS3T7trBc GREG nailed it. It's like baker's chocolate, not sweet chocolate. 39 IBUs. If you want a good unsweetened chocolate porter, try this one. [;)]

[8D] H-e-e-e-e-e-r-e-'s JAY! I tried to find a Louisiana Beer Reviews at the outset, but it brought itself in later on. So, without further ado... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTk-u96HTIc

[:)] One Craft, one Crafty. I'd say each is a MOR between good real beers and good flavored malt beverages (i.e. very sweet dessert drinks). NEW BELGIUM + BEN&JERRY'S Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ale. Very impressive mild blend of ale and ice cream flavors. The aroma of vaniila, a slightly sweet ale, and smooth easy drinkability. BLUE MOON CAPPUCCINO OATMEAL STOUT. Coffee, coffee, COFFEE! [^] Both are worthy of a trial tasting. I'll search online for reviews now; I didn't do that before trying 'em out myself. If anything noteworthy + or - is out there, I'll post links. [;)]

Saranac Irish Roots 12 pack. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_k2zHs2sJI [:D] Yeah, good crafty beers! Probably don't want 'em too cold.

Craft. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/462/1885/ The brewery. /www.bing.com/videos/search?q=1812+amber+ale+videos&&view=detail&mid=F2DB8402B104BC6DF111F2DB8402B104BC6DF111&FORM=VRDGAR It is balanced. Drinkable at room temp or cold, you decide.

Only snobs care whether it is craft or corporate. If it tastes good, I'll drink it.

[:)] One of my recent 50 cent beer purchases was 12 oz brown bottle New Belgium Pumpkick. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/192/97291/ Maybe the best pumpkin brew I've had. BA sez Good, I'd say VERY GOOD. [^] It's a Craft brew...afaik. With all the acquisitions going on it's tough to be sure. [8)] http://www.newbelgium.com/brewery/ [:0] This bottle expired 2-12-17! But there's nothing wrong with it. Kudos, New Belgium. [8D] --------------------------------- [:(] Also drank a skunked brown bottle of Bud Light (cheap price; had to try it [xx(]). It was only two days expired, and the can version (unexpired) is no comparison to the better-in-every-way can of Lite by Miller. --------------------------------- Lite is GOOD + for being a light beer. I'd call it watered down, but of a similar ideal, to the once extant Erlanger! [:)] [;)] I remember that Yuengling had a more flavorful light beer, and Sam Adams light was also said to be very good for its class. Miller Lite was often mentioned favorably, but I never got a bargain price before now. [8)]

[:)] Seems to be a new one. Adirondack Mountaintop Mix. Didn't find it online, but the beers are listed in BA. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/7216/64288/ https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/7216/24839/ https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/7216/37158/ https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/7216/68231/ [^] Fine brews all (quality judgement) but I'm partial to the Scotch and the Brown (personal preference). Especially the Scotch. Had no clue that its abv was over 8% until I read the review. As I slowly finished the warming-to-room-temp third one, the alcohol heat made itself known. Fat Scotsman gets a *****. The others are, I believe, all nice brews. Let those who can appreciate the IPA and the Red provide a verdict. [;)] I also picked up a sixer of once upon a time favorite Moosehead. Still as mediocre as when I last tried it. a rather long time ago. The slight skunking was present yet again. Green bottles problem, or do they deliberately put that in there? [?]
