BEST SPORTS FIGURES
Non-Beer Discussion by KENDOSURF
Hey, I saw the topic about best "sports names" but that wasn't quite what I had in mind! I'm thinkin'...like MUHAMMAD ALI, or JOE MONTANA, or TIGER WOODS...you get the idea. [;)] My pick = RONNIE LOTT. I wanted to insert a youtube page here but I have a new (Opera) browser and I don't know how to Edit/Paste with it. That bar is missing from the top. [:I] My favorite NFL play was in Super Bowl XXIII. RONNIE LOTT hit ICKEY WOODS and knocked him BACKWARDS, even though ICKEY was charging forward and outweighed RONNIE by 30 lbs. The announcers were awed by the sound of that tackle, which was clearly heard over the airwaves from up in the booth! RONNIE LOTT was a TAE KWON DO practitioner who kept himself in remarkable shape, even by NFL standards. He was known for clean-but-bone crunching tackles; nobody on the field wanted to be hit by SF #42. He could also catch and run very well, and he had an uncanny ability to "read" a play in progress. RONNIE LOTT is perhaps the best Defensive Back in the history of the NFL...thus far. [8D]

CARSON hadn't accomplished his assignment, so LT redoubled his effort to nullify THEISMANN on the play. That's all. LT quickly realized that JOE was really hurt, and waved in the medical staff. He was obviously devastated about what had happened. Irony: A man who was so dominant ON the field, also had so many failings OFF the field.
This thread has been neglected for awhile. Let me update it with a comment about: http://www.mmamania.com/2017/4/23/15399140/former-ufc-heavyweight-champion-maurice-smith-to-be-inducted-to-2017-hall-of-fame-mma I lost track of his career years ago. Not because I wasn't impressed. I was more interested in the earliest UFC bouts overall, and Women's MMA lately (Ronda Rousey, and etc). [8)] MAURICE was a real pro in the Octagon. He could both take it and dish it out, without losing his cool...even when he was in trouble. I'm sure that tenacity brought him ultimate victory in many bouts; NOT just the ones I've seen on video. [8D] Transferred from another thread. Posted - May 30 2017 : 2:56:51 PM Show Profile Reply with Quote Bouts in approaching months. I'm most interested in the women's contests here. http://www.ufc.com/schedule/event?id= UFC FIGHT NIGHT HOLM VS CORREIA should be a good 'un! As with HOLM vs ROUSEY in 193, I say May The Best Fighter WIN. UFC 213 NUNES VS SHEVCHENKO. I know nothing about SHEVCHENKO but NUNES has a rep for brutal punching power. I'll commit and pick NUNES to WIN. [8]
[:0] WOW! https://www.youtu be.com/watch?v=m7B4JZAiG6c [:)] Sometimes the internet can provide a [8D] Surprise! instead of a [:(] one (such as WannaCry). It's a right side video link in the radio coverage link above. Don't know how long it will remain, so I Bookmarked it and posted it here. [^] Of course there have been, and will be, other great NFL games played! I'd call this one The Greatest Yet. Indeed, it is widely regarded as "The Most Competitive" SuperBowl ever, last time I checked. [;)] I broke it in two. Remove the blank space and you're good to go.
[;)] Just gotta say...this thread started with RONNIE LOTT, my pick for BEST OF ALL IN THE NFL...historically, anyway. [:)] [?] My pick for BEST OF ALL FROM MY BEST TEAM ?!? [^] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-TfVeKZf84 [8D] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iK_3oT_4kYQ
