So what exactly is the definition of this style? Googling gives a few vague ideas. A strong, malty lager with or without spices?

Not really that uncommon, as there are multitude of beers for Christmas out their. I just wanted to try something from Norway because it's the one country I haven't really experienced, other than some of Nogne O's selections....

I asked, because that page is very vague. Only says it's an old style & a strong beer("ie from 4.75% and higher").

Most of the Xmas seasonal beers around in Scandinavia and Finland are more or less viennas or ambers to the style (as for what they've been for 10+ years). Occasionally with a stronger almost bocklike malting to them. The more spiced and radical things are a bit more recent stuff, which mainly are done by micros...
