Take care & stay safe with the weather! You're in my thoughts!

Home and safe, thank you, Lou! I drove through snow in southwestern Virginia when the temp was down to about 36 at about 1 am. It's been raining since and the wind is whipping around, but so far, so good. In what I would describe as an abundance of caution, the Federal government is shut down, the Metro is shut down, DC and Fairfax County schools closed today and tomorrow, the Fort Belvoir clinics are closed to non-emergency patients, and the grocery stores are out of Ramen and bottled water. But the real deal begins when Sandy makes landfall. She's so big and there's no way to predict how she'll hook when she slams into New Jersey. If she spins north as expected, Manhattan will flood. If she lingers in Jersey or somehow hooks south, we'll be in trouble. The version of "Frankenstorm" DC residents were concerned about was if Sandy would have made landfall off of Virginia Sunday night, when the rain from the west was colliding with the cold air from the north. I saw the snow caused by that part, or Frankenstorm. Because Sandy stayed at sea longer, I was spared the 90 mph hail part of the prediction! I am grateful for that, of course. But I am even more grateful to Lou and his family and friends in Oak Ridge / Knoxville. Hootenanny was an all out blast! OMG! Totally worth it!

FoamDome is/was driving back to D.C. through this. We hope he made it late morning/early afternoon. Safest travels Brother.
Glad you made it home safely! That had to be a rough drive.

How dry I am ....How dry I am....Nobody knows how dry I am....... Jeez, it's friggin wet out there.....there is so much water, I am running to the john every hour on the hour.......as of now, NYC is knee deep in it as is the Jersey shore, etc.....in this part of the world, the high winds are due to kick in just about now......Makes me wish I had a generator......Happy Frankenstorm!!!!.... Don't let the rain come down...my roofs got a hole in it, I might drown!.....[B)][B)][B)][B)][B)][B)][:0][}:)][}:)][}:)][:(].....
Looks like things are quiting down, but the rain is still steady...wind expected to diminish....I'll tell ya, I can't speak for anyone east of here, but as far as this area is concerned, Hurricane Ivan back in 04 was far worse.....the local nearby creek had a massive overflow, which I might add, did damage to the Sharp Edge Creek House....[:(]....All communities around the creek were pretty hard hit.....Man, I am glad I am on high ground.....

I have an aunt in NYC who's lost her car...not sure about her house/condo, as she is staying in Niagara Falls with family. Hoping for the best.
