Samuel Adams The Vixen

Beer Discussion by SLOWRUNNER77

BeerPal Notice: This topic was created for discussion of the beer Samuel Adams The Vixen. Trying this tonight. Anybody know if this is chocolatededed the same way as the Chocolate Bock (one of my favorite beers)? That beer, or something very close to it, with some chillies in it would be absolutely amazing! But I have no idea if that's actually the case, or if this is another animal altogether...

This had cocoa nibs as opposed to actual chocolate in the Chocolate Bock. The chilies are very subdued... I was a little disappointed in Vixen, it just didn't have any punch from the pepper, and the cinnamon addition didn't belong. A bit of a confused beer IMO, but certainly drikable. I'd save your money for Chocolate Bock though. Also, the DIPA in this series was atrocious, avoid at all costs.

I see where you're coming from. I scored it 0.7 lower than Chocolate Bock, but considering Chocolate Bock is one my top 3 beers EVER...0.7 lower is still pretty dang good. Some similarities and lots different. Nice change of pace.

Disagre on the DIPA, I thought Third Voyage is solid for what it is. Definitely not much if any resemblance to our current view of a DIPA or IPA for that matter, but it was a good drink. http://www.beerpal.com/Samuel-Adams-Third-Voyage-Double-IPA-Beer/46136/
