RIP Dan Wheldon

Non-Beer Discussion by FARGINGBASTIGE6

A tragic day for the Wheldon family, Indy fans, race fans. I've been to a few Indy races at Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, AL (near Birmingham) and have really enjoyed it. The only thing I can say is that he died doing something he was truly passionate about and enjoyed.

Not really a race fan, but this just sucks. My prayers go out to his family and friends. It was obvious by the reaction of the others drivers this guy was well liked.

Tough loss for the sport and his family. From the little bit I know, he was a class guy. Tough to see. Racing is always dangerous, no matter how much safety technology has advanced. I have seen some bad racing wrecks in person, but glad none were fatal.

Ugly, ugly incident. Too many cars going too fast on a small circuit (34 here vs 33 at Indy, which is a mile longer and far wider). Could have easily lost more than one. Plus, as Robin Miller said on Sunday night, some of these younger drivers are far too comfortable; they've never faced the death of a competitor. Really enjoyed the moron who called in and said they should've kept racing because that's what Wheldon would have wanted. Uh huh. Sure.

Sad that, real deal, rest in Peace-words fail me. A Pal if ever there was one.
