Beer is Amazing.
General Beer Discussion by PHISHPOND417
It really is. All this excitement about the Great Taste of the Midwest is practicly contagious. Brewers from all over the Midwest are starting to pile into Madison and there are tastings and events left and right. (By the way, if you're not familiar with the GTMW, google it right away and learn about it.) It's awesome feeling excited in the midst of masses of people who at the same time are also excited about the same thing as you. Beer is amazing. Do you guys and gals ever feel that? I'm sure we can all say, "Yeah man, I always drink good beer and think about how great it is." But we all know that isn't entirely true. At least for the majority of us. But times like these, it's a refreshing reminder of how special- good beer tastes and the greatness it does for people. [8D]

+1 The first time I experienced this was in a small village in Germany. Locals were loyal to their hometown brewer. The beer made in the village was essential to the character of the place. I have seen that connection since, and it never ceases to impress me.
Not to be worshiped, but yes the community that it may encompass is a generous one. I once again volunteered to pour at a yearly festival that took place last weekend and was able to converse about craft to those in the loop along with lots of people just getting their feet wet. One guy walked up to my station and looked hesitant, I asked him what he likes to drink. He said "to be honest, I drink Bud Light" in a tone that alluded he knew he may be shunned. "No problem" I said, "try this" I poured him an Angry Gorilla which is a Hefeweizen. Before I handed it to him I said "it's going to have a mild banana an clove flavor, but I think you'll enjoy it" to which he replied "I love bananas!". Took a couple sips and I could see his eyes come alive.......I then explained to him more about the style and threw out some suggestions on what to ask for or look for in stores.

Yeah, not like that. But the other times I feel this is whenever I join the Beer Trip guys on of their adventures. That feeling never gets old.
