End of week two

General Beer Discussion by BPARATORE

This weekend I bottle my first batch of home brew. The bottles came in during the week and I believe I am already to go.

OK, that went well. Very well if I say so myself. I bottled 24 22 oz bottles, a 12 oz screw cap (I know, not supposed to) 4 quick snap caps (I had some Groslch bottles, who knows why) a quick snap cap whiskey bottle (no idea where I got it or why I had it, but it worked) and one 750ml Buffalo Trace bottle (it has a tight cork) And I still poured some down the drain. Now I have to let them sit for a week (doubt I'll last longer then that, put them in the fridge, and hopefully be able to enjoy a few cold ones. The smell while bottling was incredible. Like a brewery. (I used to live across the street from the Ballingtine(sp?) Beer brewery on Staten Island, back before it burned down, so I know what it smells like) Gotta say, so far this has been fun. I enjoyed all of it, even the never ending cleaning, before, during and after. I thought the bottling part would be boring but having the right tools made it fun. A little messy, until I figured out to turn off the valve when setting the bottle filler down. I just hope this stuff tastes as good as it smelled. I have another kit waiting in the wings. A Blue Moon knock off. The wife likes that kind. I'm going to need to find a second refrigerator so I can do kegs instead.
