knocked outta the top 100, but a good read:
"I hate to review this beer...based on all other NG reveiws you'd think they brew with Angel's tears and Christs' blood. This is a wine cooler...if you want a good example of fruit beer try NG Belgian Red. The rasberry tart lives up to the name, lots of raspberry flavor and aroma and a sweet tart taste. It's almost like candy, a wine cooler as I said. I won't be more direct than that as NG has quite a faithful following and I don't want a mail bomb!"
No mail bomb, but please humor me...how is raspberry tart a candy/wine cooler, yet you sing the praises of belgian red, which is liquified cherry pie? don't get me wrong, i love that one, but they are both super sweet and super fruity, so where did this fail and the other succeed?

Opinions vary. I have no problem with people disliking any beer for any reason, even if "...it doesn't taste like beer". Misinformed? Dunno. I think it's an incredibly well made beer.
I can definitely understand his point, I love that beer others may not......no shit storm from me. Thanks for the honest review, I have more respect for that than an inflated dishonest one....again thank you for sharing your true thoughts that is what this is all about.

totally agreed. honesty paramount. i'm not even bashing (at all)...just curious how raspberry is wine cooler like and cherry is not...i could say that point being made for either.

I think the Red has better balance and, like the NG Apple, it also has a defined malt character to it that I think is lost by the sourness of the Raspberry Tart. The Tart also seems lighter than the other NG fruit beers. I think they do a good job with what they put out there, I just don't think this one is as good as their other offerings. I also can't say as I've had a wine cooler in recent history so perhaps I shouldn't make that comparison, but isn't a wine cooler actually flavored beer?
