Anchor Christmas Ale Reviews

Website Comments by OIZNOP

What category do I do my review of Anchor 2004 Xmas Ale??....I see by the list of Anchor Products on this site that we have a generic category for Anchor Christmas Ale, but then we have a slew of Anchor "Our Special Ale" categories for various vintages as well....first of all, what is this "Our Special Ale?" Are we talking about the same beer???....Secondly, since Anchor changes the recipe of this beer every Xmas season, wouldn't it make sense to add on a category stating the following Anchor Christmas Ale 2004 I guess my question is should I start a new review thread under the heading of Anchor Christmas Ale 2004, or should I do it under the Generic Anchor Christmas Ale thread, or should I start a thread that reads "Anchor Our Special Ale 2004???....Or should I go and get a gun, shoot the computer, and then blow my brains out???.... HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For the record, I am trying to avoid duplicate beer categories, since it has been an issue on here! Oiz

In Reply To #1 All righty then, since no one has responded, and after doing some reasearch in my Beer Library, I am going to take it upon myself to begin a new review thread for this beer.....It will be as follows: Anchor "Our Special Ale" 2004, and in the text body, I shall mention that this beverage is AKA Anchor Christmas Ale.... I sincerely hope this is acceptable among the multitude here, because like I said before, it seems that duplicate review threads are an issue on this site, and I don't wish to rock the boat....Lord knows I am as guilty as anyone for doing this....But in this case, I don't think it will be a big deal.... I'm not sure what the beer is you're talking about. You call it a christmas ale but the other ones say "Our Special Ale" because that's the name of it. Yours may not be the same kind, or maybe they changed the name. Whenever you're unsure it's better to create a new beer. We'll make our decision when we get to it and it's easy to change. If you put it under the wrong beer there's almost no way we'll know!

In Reply To #3 Hi Flash....I am refering to the Anchor Beer with the different tree on the label...The research material I am going by is Mike Jackson's Great Beer Guide/500 Classic Beers book.....In it the Anchor Christmas Ale is titled as follows" Anchor "Our Speical Holiday Ale" Since the listing of Anchor products included review thread that were titled Anchor "Our Special Ale" (insert year here), I just started a new thread for the 2004 version.....I am 99.9% sure that we are talking about the same animal.....The recipe varies for this ale from year to year, which is why I decided to just start the new thread....Oh by the way, incase you haven't had it yet, it's damn good!...So good in fact, I think it will be the next feature for the Dark Side series.... The Anchor OSA's are divided up by year with all vintages through 1998 and then a seperate listing for every year after. Each year warrants a seperate listing since the recipie does change every year. So put that gun away :)
