Man, this is expensive. I love Deschutes' beers, so when this showed up in the grocery store today I bought a bottle. It was the only beer on the shelves that was missing a price tag. I figured it might be 7 or 8 dollars, so when I got home and looked at the receipt I was pretty shocked to see $12.49!
It better be good [:D]

I have three years at home, but i'd honestly be surprised if 2010 ain't the best...at least since my first bottle ever :)

We are having a massive vertical tasting this weekend and I believe The Abyss in multiple vintages will be in attendance.
I'll let you know how it shakes out, think we've got 2007 thru 2010.

2010 was extremely good, but my favorite was the 2008.

cool, how'd the 07 hold up? 09 has been my least favorite since it's release...

nice review Cybercat. very informative...and glad you really liked it! [:D]
As noted in my review the '07 seemed to be thinning out and fading. If I had bottles, I'd probably drink them up.

I think Abyss 2011 should be it's own entry. Like the Black Butte AV beers, they've started changing the ingredients and barreling. The description for previous vintages says "ale brewed with licorice & molasses, with 33% aged in oak & oak bourbon barrels." The 2011 version: "Malt beverage brewed with black strap molasses, licorice, with cherry bark and vanilla added with 6% aged in oak bourbon barrels, 11% aged in oak barrels, and 11% aged in oak wine barrels." Different beer, right?

yep...looks like the labels for 2007-2010 are consistent, 2011 is different. excited to try it, but a little scared that they tweaked one of my all-time favorite beers. Anyway, I added the 2011 Reserve as new, since it's different n' stuff.
