Westmalle Now Available in Pittsburgh, but.....

General Beer Discussion by OIZNOP

...and this is a big BUT, the only place its currently available is at the Sharp Edge Creek House, and they want $12.00 per bottle!....A 12 OZ. BOTTLE!!!!!!!.....Tell me this is NOT the going rate???....Tell me that the Sharp Edge is extorting at the expense of their "best belgian beer bar in the USA" status??.....Tell me that you guys in Philly are getting it cheaper, so there is a glimmer of hope??...This is really absurd.....I sincerely hope that another establishment in the area here will soon be stocking Westmalle.... holy smokes. That's 3-4 times as much as what I paid at The Foodery in Philly (a couple years ago). Westmalle was one of the cheapest trappists, along with La Trappe. I think both were $3 something. So, unless the price has jumped since I last bought one a copule years ago, you're getting ripped off.

In Reply To #2 I am not getting ripped off, Flash....I won't pay that kind of jack for a 12 oz bottle.....I will wait until Bado's or Fatheads or Smokin Joes stocks it before I pay that....That's a shame too, because I really like the Sharp Edge alot!....If I remember the chat tonight, I will bring it up in the round table....CUL Oiz

If you can get a bottle of Westmalle tripple for $3.00, buy it! At $12.00, I would not be a customer of thieves. Going rate in Belgium is .87 US.

Just bought a 6-pack (of 11.7 oz (?) bottles) last week for $15.60 in Missouri. I guess that is a decent price?
