How Come?

can somebody please explain the dual brewery name thing to me. every time i've had one of the yankee jim line the can states that it's brewed by big hole brewery in ithaca, but in reality "big hole" is matt brewing co., also of ithaca. i'm confuzzed. please help[:(].

I would guess that Big Hole is a company that owns the name and recipe. Matt is probably just a contract brewer. City (Melanie) and Pittsburgh Brewing do a lot of contract brewing also.

I got confused with Spanish Peaks beers also. Officially, they are in CAlifornia, but every bottle I have had said it was brewed in New York. That is because Mendicino owns them and brews it at the NY location. Agreed, very confusing. I had to do some research after pintbypint gave me the Canadian brewed version of Headstrong Pale Ale. Different brewers make the same beer (with a slightly different abv). The parent company is in the US, but a Canadian brewer also makes a version.
