beer that was much better than you expected

General Beer Discussion by MYKE

this is a forum not about the best beer, or your favourite, but a beer that you sampled thst turned out to be much, much better than anticipated. for me it was 4: Dead Guy Ale; Paulaner Wheat; Saigon Export; and Iron City

I wrote in the "Biggest Surprise Beer" post a few weeks ago that mine was the Pumpkin Ale from the Bethleham Brew Works. I was trying to think of some others, but it's rare that I think I won't like a beer that I try. I'm pretty optimistic about all beers. Another beer that I like was New Glarus Triple, which was the first triple that I've ever really liked.

i'm not talking a "surprise" beer. that to me denotes a beer that you thought would suck or that you thought would be marginal but wound up liking. no, i'm talking about a beer that you knew was good, that you were looking forward to and wound being much better than expected.

I thought I'd like Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA and I really did.
