How could I have forgotten about, 'Carcass' and their ultimate album 'Necrotism Descanting The Insalubrious' with the classic tune 'Corporal Jigsore Quandary' and then there's the band 'Death' with the album 'Human' and the songs 'Lack Of Comprehension' and 'Cosmic Sea'.(R.I.P. Chuck) I'll also add Primus to that list with both 'Frizzle Fry' and 'Sailing The Seas Of Cheese', clearly their best albums as for songs from those; 'Mr. Knowitall' and 'Jerry Was A Race Car Driver', it's hard to believe that before joining Primus, the guitarist, Larry Lalonde, was in the band 'Possessed', one of the pioneer thrash/death/black metal bands, quite the change in my opinion, but it's all good.
hey never mind that s8n, both lalonde and les claypool were in the vastly under-rated blind illusion. they only had one album, but it was pretty good. but it would seem upon listening to blind illusion and comparing it w/ possessed that lalonde's style was already in transition. as far as claypool, he was alwyas a funk fan, even when playing metal; he tried out for metallica and for faith no more, and he's always cited flea as an influence. as an aside, he's gotten more hippie/weird than lalonde as claypool now has a band w/ trey of phish and stewart copeland of the police called oysterhead.
i can't believe i forgot the second clutch album-the one simply entitled clutch. and as far as death goes, leprosy will always be classic to me and of course the first deicide album, w/ dead by dawn as one of the best early death metal songs of all time. also, an obscure band from sweden called parasite who only had one e.p. if swedes did nwobhm, this is what it'd sound like; "nightwind" has to be the greatest power metal song of all time.
and as far as punk goes(titles in quotations denote songs rather than albums): "rise above"-black flag anything by the misfits "drink and drive"-black flag "johnny hit and run polleen"-x "fell in love with a girl"-the white stripes "you ain't got nothin' on me" - the donna's anything from the cycle sluts from hell the first circle jerks album victim in pain/cause for alarm-agnostic front "anthem"- agnostic front L7 "annihilate the week"-black flag the first two rollins albums "the power of lard"-lard(jello biafra and ministry) "holiday in cambodia" the dead kennedy's 'too drunk too fukk"=-dead kennedy's anything from the first 2 suicidal albums-especially "i saw you mommy and your mommy's dead"
Hey Myke, was Blind Illusion what became Sausage, or was Sausage before B.I.? Yeah I picked up the Oysterhead when that came out, it's OK, but it never did much for me though, maybe I should give it another go. Keeping with Les Claypool, have you heard the new Adrian Belew (King Krimson) with Les on bass and Danny from Tool on drums? If you're into prog it's pretty cool, Danny plays a completely different style than what we're used too. Now to keep going with the forum subject, I'd have to add the song 'Critical Mass' from 'Nuclear Assault' to the mix, when I first heard that song, something like 12 years ago, I just flipped and I still like it to this day.

I was never into metal but always into old school punk My favorite punk band isnt the Clash even though they rank up there. Group Sex by the Circle Jerks is my favorite punk album. A user name like "CircleJerks" probably wouldn't go over well so I went with "Clash" [:D]
