Brewers of cask, keg and bottle-conditioned beer. Here at Durham Brewery our philosophy is simple. Beer is special; beer is interesting and although we have been continually creating award winning beers since 1994, we never get tired of experimenting. We are masters of our craft and this can be tasted in every mouthful. It’s not just beer; it’s our passion, our art and our constant challenge to keep on innovating and adapting to the ever-changing market. We keep all aspects of production in-house so that we can be sure the finished beer is of the highest standard. From pale ale to dark stout, fruit beer to Bavarian lagerbier; we lead the way in quality and diversity. We have a beer for everyone. Our head brewer ensures that all styles are made authentically, cutting no corners and constantly renewing plant and machinery for the highest quality. Our SALSA (Safe And Local Supplier Approval) accreditation and yearly audit attest to this. Despite all our years, this family owned brewery is still small, preferring to concentrate on perfecting beers rather than manufacturing volume. Great care is taken to let the beer mature as it must. Cask-conditioning is as it says, not tank-conditioning, most bottles are bottle-conditioned with a small number of beers filtered, lagerbier can be allowed a full two months to mature naturally before kegging without filtration. The results speak volumes – we have local, national and international awards. Visit us at our onsite brewery shop and bar with tours on Saturdays.
