After nine months hidden away in bourbon barrels and conditioning cellars, this Barleywine experienced a metamorphosis. The transformation unveiled a decadent malty backbone infused with layers of oak, vanilla and bourbon.

Enjoyed at gabf 2014. It pours with a nice copper body that has just the slightest haze to it and supports a tan head of foam. The aroma teases up some sweet malts, a bit of spicy oak and mild hoppiness that seems kind of pine like. Wow, the taste is smooth and luscious and sweet where I get slick sweet malts backed up by smooth soft sweet bourbon barrel notes. It then runs straight toward molasses sweetened pine hop bitterness where there’s a thin floral hop sensation floating around the edges. Terrific sipper with great balance of beer and barrel flavors as well as attaining a tasty soft smooth rich sweetness.
