Diamond Cholla is a gem of a beer. A curated blend of well-aged braggot, traditional American barleywine and and a base of imperial stout all aged in fresh, American Bourbon Barrels. with notes of caramelized sugar, American oak and hints of mature whiskey. Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9

Pint can pours up with a dark mahogany colored body that supports a thin tan head of foam. The aroma comes across sweet with malts and a hint of dark fruity esters before malt and molasses sweetened dark roasted malts, a bit of spicy oak and booze take over. The taste delivers smooth slick reduced sugar and kettle caramelized malt goodness leading to a mild degree of date and prune sweet dark fruity esters. Nice. Another sip reveals layers of malts to dark roasted malts bleeding all over a thin stave of spicy oak. This comes together nice and blurs the line between barleywine and imperial stout to a degree. Great sipper.
