There are 11 different grains and sugar in this beer, giving it the complexity and similarity to a barleywine grain bill, but it only clocks in at 3.6% ABV. Very faint nuances of dark fruit, caramel, toffee, chocolate, and coffee, with just enough earthy English hops for balance. Get the flavor and drink more than one!

Pours a lovely clear mahogany, more red than brown - not much head, but that is from the pour plus the time to get to my table, and it does leave some good lacing. Malty aroma has a hint of cloves. Malty flavor is indeed mild - this is a pleasant beer for sipping during good conversation, or with a meal. I get hints of caramel and cloves. Smooth, firm texture has a strong and persistent fizz. A tip of the cap to a decent ale.
