Our brewers added fresh chopped ginger to a few select barrels of our Barrel-Aged Brrrbon ’13, an imperial version of our Brrr Seasonal Ale aged in Kentucky Bourbon barrels, for this limited edition brew. The addition of ginger complements the oak, vanilla, and caramel flavors of the beer and results in a smooth winter warmer perfect for the season. MALTS: Pale, Caramel, Carapils, Dark Chocolate HOPS: Alchemy, Simcoe, Cascade

Pours a beautiful clear mahogany with a thick and fluffy pale buff head. Bourbon and ginger dominate the aroma - OK, except that they let only a snippet of malt peek through. Flavor has notes of bourbon, oak and ginger plus a hint of sweet vanilla. Texture is quite fizzy, if a tad thin, leaving a bourbon and ginger finish. Not the best of the Brrrbon series, but worthy of a snort.

Not sure how the addition of ginger ups the abv 1.3%, but that's where it's at. Maaaaybe a slight improvement, or at least a welcome addition to, the standard vanilla oaky boozy Brrrbon. Good stuff. You can see a s---ton of ginger in the pour. Refreshing for 10%+.
