Rob Roy Ale is a strong Scotch ale that can trace its' roots back to 1939 when it was originally made by Walkerville Brewery Limited. The image on this can is a rendition of the original Rob Roy bottle label of that time. This multi-award winning Scotch Ale is hand crafted. The beer is dark ruby in colour. It is smooth drinking with a dry roast character and has a full finish.

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

October 12, 2018
LCBO Outlet #255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
473ml can
7.0% ABV
$3.25
The date code on the can is the totally obvious 8253. The beer pours a beautiful translucent dark cherry red with a creamy half inch tan coloured cap that lingers a while. The aroma is light toffee and molasses with hints of grains and musty hops. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with average carbonation. On the thin side for a Scotch ale. The flavour is like the mouthfeel in that it is weak on flavour. Not a lot of sweetness coming from the molasses/toffee notes, and not a lot of bitterness from hop notes. The alcohol is well hidden though, that’s a plus. Look and smells great, but the flavour was a letdown for me.
