From the Valhalla Brewery in Unst, comes Old Scatness. A very light bitter from an ancient type of six row barley called bere, with oats and wheat (of which evidence was found at the Old Scatness archaeological dig at the south end of Shetland). With an ABV of 4.0%, this brew has real heather honey added at the end of the boil to give a nice refreshing smoky aftertaste.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Like all bottled beers from this brewery, it is filtered to remove all remaining yeast (but possibly not pasteurised?). ABV is 4.0%. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Fairly boring "dusty" aroma. Soft mouthfeel. The flavour is better than the aroma, some fruity hops, quite refreshing. A sharpish bitterness in the aftertaste.
