No date on the bottle. Heard it was hot when fresh. Been aging since last February. Poured into a snifter. Pours a deep mahogany color with ruby highlights. Light tan head. Long lasting clinging lacing. Aromas of bourbon, dark fruit (figs, dates, raisins), malt and caramel a hint of butterscotch. Bourbon subtly leads the flavors with dark fruit and caramel rounding out the rest of the taste. Mouthfeel is full and creamy. I am assuming that the barrel aging has mellowed this beer out. Been on a barleywine kick of late as the unseasonably cold weather has made the higher a.b.v. beers more popular with me so far this year. A pleasant surprise. Wish I had picked up more and aged for longer for comparison.

Dark brown pour with a sticky off-white head. Funky aroma that is hard to place - canned dog food, maybe? Thin mouthfeel with adequate carbonation and little notice of the ABV, although this is still a sipper. Very sweet flavor up front with notes of raisins, dates, figs, and brown sugar. Super sweet. Cloyingly sweet. This is bourbon barrel aged? I get no qualities of barrel aging - no vanilla, no oak, no alcohol. As high priced as this is, I can't envision a time where I would ever buy this again.

Sampled on 3/31/2012. This barley wine pours a medium to dark copper amber color from a corked and caged 750ml bottle. Small to medium sized white/tan foamy head, with decent lacing and nice retention. The aroma is caramel fruity and sweet. A medium bodied Barley wine. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy and herbal. Decent carbonation. Touch of wood and bourbon. Very smooth tasting. Nice balance of wood, malts and alcohol. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet with a hint of alcohol.

did i hurt your feelings stinky?? .. . first off, love the label- very amusing .. . pours a deep camel brown, good foam .. . bourbon, wood, pepper, and toffee .. . fantastic stuff, quite subtle for a barrel aged beer .. . . Lisa, vampires are make-believe, like elves, gremlins, and Eskimos.

A clear reddish-brown beer with a thin cap. Aroma was bourbon, sweet malt, citrus, and grass. The flavour wasn't nearly as complex or flavourful. I would gladly give this a miss next time it's offered

Pours out in a deep hazy reddish brown colour with a rich thick off-white head. Big sweetish aroma of caramel, treacle, vanilla, wood, nuts, resin, black cherries and blackberries with hints pepper and alcohol. Full-bodied with notes of wood, nuts, burnt caramel, bourbon, vanilla and alcohol. Long warming finish of oak, bourbon, nuts, pepper and treacle.

Pleasant, mediocre barleywine.....winded down a small gathering with the Cooper and I knew it was time to end. Nothing spectacular but it's a nice malty sipper that could do well with a year or so.

Pours brown brown with a thin thin tan head. Aroma is dirty. Mouthfeel is fuzzy hops. flavor is...well, there's a lot going on here... hops, sweet, alcohol, bourbon..all in all interesting but seemingly not ready for primetime. Unbalanced IMHO.

solid brw if you liked barreled beers, which i do. worth the price? not really, as Uinta's AV Barleywine is just as good for much less. well balanced hops, vanilla/oak/bourbon, and some sweet malts. quite nice, but not a standout in the BW world.

750ml bottle, bottled 4/1/10. Pours a medium brown (cola color) with a fairly large creamy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is bourbon, pepper, sweet caramel, some cola and some floral notes.
The flavor is sweet caramel malts, some cola and bourbon. The finish is some grassy bitterness and alcohol (pretty harsh and warming). The mouthfeel is medium bodied with good carbonation.
Overall, not too impressive. It’s not well balanced. The cola is odd and the bourbon and alcohol are overdone.
