A new limited edition ale will mark the first in a series of vintage ales that will be brewed by Traquair in the coming years. This rich ruby dark ale closely resembles the first brews by 20th Laird, Peter Maxwell Stuart, when he restarted brewing in the 1960’s. Each year the recipe will be slightly different but all will be in the tradition of a strong old fashioned Scottish Ale fermented in oak and brewed exclusively in the 18th century brewery at Traquair. The design of the label will reflect a different character associated with the history of Traquair and this year we have chose Lord and Lady Nithsdale. Lady Nithsdale was famous for rescuing her husband from the Tower of London after he was captured in the Jacobite Uprising of 1715.
