Brewed as one of the celebratory beers for Thwaites bi-centenary. Named after Alfred Wainwright, the renowned Lakeland author who was born in Blackburn in 1907. A refreshing straw-coloured beer with soft fruit flavours and a hint of sweetness from the fine malt.

Not much of a head but it is nicely white and stable. Color is darkish golden. Aroma is just right for the perfect English ale having strong ase of hops and some sidekick of bread and cookies. Taste is a bit weak though I would have expected more if you take the quite strong aroma into the notice. Still it has some good hints to malt and hops. Aftertaste is a bit disssapointing though with the blank and waterish ending. An average ale, but nothing special.

Cask. Goldeny amber colour with small slightly off-white head. Aroma is bready malts, some citrus fruits as well as mild caramel as well. Flavour is fruits, caramel malts, some bready notes as well as some mild earthy notes.

Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5
Aroma is grainy as well as malty sweet with some fresh hay and straw coming through as well as some very delicate fruity esters that provide a layer of complexity. Appearance is a dark, golden in color when held to the light with a medium head on top that is fuzzy and bleach white in color and diminishes to a stringy lacing that adheres to the glass. Mouthfeel is light-bodied as well as very wet-like with some mediocre complexity and balance with a palette that is crisp and well-rounded. Flavor is of grains with sweet malt as well as some hay with an aftertaste that is slightly fruity-like and a finish that is clean and crisp and not all that bad. Overall, quality brew here but by no means anything special; take it or leave it...
