Wax dipped bottle with a simple stick on label courtesy of heybeerman. Been sitting on this one for a while and decided to share it with a few friends at our small get together. Cloudy amber brown pour producing a large lasting head and a thick blanket of lacing, mildly carbonated. Caramel and toffee lead to a rich malt content with a jumble of fruits and spices. Citrusy hops were very faint and lend a smooth bitterness to counter the sweet malts. Earthy and floral all around. Heavy bodied with just enough age I think to smooth everything out. In great form right now, and I see no reason this can't continue to age with grace.

Not one I would itch to have again, but always happy to try something new. Poured with no real head, beer is cloudy, brown and very sweet, too sweet for my taste. There are some hops in there and you can taste the bitter in back end but the malt is overpowering.

A friend recently went up to Superior and brought this big ol beer back. Huge barleywine, nicely done for a small northwoods brewer. A big caramel nose, burnt sugar and some hops. A very dark brown barleywine with only minimal head. A very thick mouthfeel but with enough alcohol and hops to smooth it out and keep it from cloying. Flavor is all caramel, hot booze and hop bitterness, nice balance and really well done.
