Bicentennial Old Ale, crafted by Akron’s Thirsty Dog Brewery for the 200th celebration of the City of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Thirsty Dog owner John Najeway said his brewery is creating the Old Ale, to reflect the city’s first 100 years. Bicentennial Old Ale represents the kind of beer that would have been popular at the time of the city’s founding. The ale is dark and heavy with 7 percent alcohol. Its flavor has a hint of dark chocolate with hops used to balance the drink and bring a touch of bitterness, Najeway said.

Sampled at the brewery, and thoroughly enjoyed. Medium bodied and rich Old Ale with influences from roasted and crystal malts, dark berries, nuts, and coffee. Soft to the palate, and a fine sipper to be enjoyed over good conversation. Dark brown body with a good sized tan cap and spotty lacing. Hope to see this bottled soon, and in my refrigerator.
