Wow - this one caught me completely off guard. Sampled via draft at Fatheads in Pittsburgh. Straw yellow with a whispy white head that caps the beer. Strong carbonation helps with the mouthfeel and lends drinkability even though this is hefty at 10 percent ABV. Aromas of barnyard funk and bourbon that is really intriguing. Massive flavors of banana and melded deftly with oak and vanilla. This is reminiscent of bananas foster, and truly is like desert in a glass. I sipped this slowly but wanted more when it was gone. A big thumbs up to Thirsty Dog, this was superb.

Much like Kentucky Monk from Jackie O's this barrel aged Tripel just about made my knees buckle. Sturdy, fruity, heavy Belgian ale with layers of flavor combined with a gentle barrel influence to soften the edges and provide a rich warming sipper.
