Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9
Sampled on 8/8/2013. This sour/wild ale pours a medium to dark orange amber color (sorry I can’t be more vague) from a 750ml bottle. Small sized white foamy, quickly disappearing head. The aroma is citrusy, fruity, tart and sweet, with some wood. A medium bodied wild/sour ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy. Nice wood flavor. This one is up there in the tartness/mouth puckering scale. Tooth enamel will remain, but might be compromised. But it is balanced with some nice fruity sweetness. Not a lot of carbonation, but I am not sure it need a whole lot. The fruitiness increases and the tartness diminishes a little as it warms. The kumquats work well with the sourness and tartness. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is tart.
