Ever accidentally blend two brews, curse a bit, and then smile when tasting the excellent result? Us too. Smooth Criminal is the splendid result of moving a bit too quickly in the brewhouse. An accidental addition of Saison De Lente to a fermenter full of our anniversary ale led us to ask "Anni, are you okay?" She was. Smooth Criminal showcases rich malt, flavorful hops, and oaky goodness in a harmoniously unique ale.

    Bottle @ 10 East

Since I love extremely sweet beers, and extremely sour beers and extremely bitter beers and...well...this was extremely sweet and it was really nice. Vanilla and dates, some bourbon soaked raisins in brown sugar and caramel sauce. No hop presence noticeable. It's not cloying in any way and it's not boozy which are both admirable. Comes across like an English barleywine, but I can definitely see an American Strong Ale too.

Not a WHOLE lot different than the base, bcause the barrel still is the preveailing component. Maybe a little smaller with a quick earthy shot and touch of tart, but you really gotta work for it. Worthy addition.
