Filmishmish, an Arabic term for “when the apricots bloom”, is a barrel aged sour blonde ale to which apricots have been added. The beer’s already fruity esters are enhanced by the hint of fresh apricot jam and wood shavings. Filmishmish is a well balanced beer, keeping the apricot and oak character present, but putting the flavor of the well formed sour ale at the forefront.

Bottle into a tulip - apricot (surprise!) colored with a quick burst of carbonation but no head retention. Sour forward aromas with notes of hay and citrus. Intense tartness dries my palate with strong citrus notes. The sourness is balanced with palatable apricots, drying yet extremely awesome and ups the drinkability. Truly a beautifully crafted beer - very pretty in the glass with tastes and aromas of apricots that put this in the top tier of American Wilds.

Pleasant beer throughout. Golden orange in color. Aroma mostly mild tartness with some light fruit and a little oak. Flavor well balanced and complex. Fruit present but not overdone. Kind of a session sour, but definitely well done!

Sampled at Bruery Provisions on 2/27/2012. This wild ale pours an orange gold color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is apricot, fruit, sweet, tart and some wood. A medium bodied wild ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, apricots and tart. Nice bright carbonation. Crisp and clean tart, slightly funky with a hint of wood. Nice apricot flavors, they are omnipresent but not overpowering. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly tart with some residual sweetness
