Time traveling in at number 16 in our “Side Project” series of beers is “Phlux Capacitor.” This wood aged bully is brewed to an unknown style from another dimension. Rumor has it that this beer was the first invented on planet Vulcan on Saturday, November 5, 1955 at 10:04 pm. Scribbled on the back of a sports almanac inside an abandoned Delorean. It is said that the speedometer in the car was frozen at 88 miles per hour and it took 1.21 gigawatts of power to jumpstart the car back to the future. We hope you enjoy our interpretation of this totally fictitious ale.

Thiw poured a reddish brown color with a beige head. The aroma contains some caramel, citrus, toffee, and strong herbal notes. The flavor is both bitter and sweet. Oddly some butterscotch, citrus, caramel, and some whiskey notes. This is like arrogant bastard on crack with some wuthers originals. Finish is malty and bitter. Some oak and alcohol showing up. Good stuff but all over the place.

Comes out of the tap an opaque, slightly reddish sable with a thick, light golden tan head. Strong aroma is malty and yeasty and has a curious resin-like, almost varnish-like, overtone. Malty flavor has that same resin overtone plus hints of hops, wood and horehound. Smooth texture has good, firm body and a subtle fizz. Maybe this ale’s origin in another dimension (with voyeuristic intentions) is what gives it that odd taste.
