Aged 18 to 24 months in syrah barrels. Tons of wood in the nose, vanilla apple cocoa nib and cherry aromas dominate. Moderately light bodied, tart and dry with cocoa and cola notes in the mid palate. Finish is long with lingering dark fruit and chocolate covered cherries character. Very complex.

Tasted at the 6th Annual Bistro Barrel Aged Beer Fest on 11/12/2011. This sour ale pours a dark black color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is dark fruit, oak, fruity and sweet. A medium to full bodied wild ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, cocoa and cola. The hops are earthy and herbal. Some vanilla and dark fruit flavors as well. A touch of tartness and some vinous qualities as well. Nice sipping beer, perhaps just a little thin tasting. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
