There is just one reason I am drinking and rating this beer: to add another country to my list. Amber color, no head nor lacing. Aromas of rubbing alcohol and apple pie moonshine, taste is about the same. Hot mess. This is a horrible excuse for a barleywine, but it's Romanian, so who knows...

Twist off cap half liter, that was filled right to the firkin cap yielding a tiny ‘tsss’ upon opening, pours deep gold with 2 second long head. Ok, a quick whiff and quick sip, just to find out what is in store for meal, revealed a sense that this is a bit mead like. Hmmm? Ok 2nd, I think I’m drinking this while it is too warm. It needs to be near freezing. The aroma pummels the senses with various ’super’ sweet honey mead like notes and moving into off smelling ’super’ messy booziness and then even more ’super’ chemical mead like qualities. The taste is big and sweet and a bit prickly with carbonation and shoveling out ’super’ apple cedar like notes, ’super’ mead like notes and ’super’ boozy chemical train wreck like notes. I have no clue how I’m going to finish this half liter. I tell ya what, it would be very cool to include this in a blind mead tasting. It is very mead like.

Pours a pretty, if typical, clear amber with a respectable off-white head that does not stick around too long. Strong, fruity aroma is more like apple brandy than beer, and packs a punch. Flavor is - HOLY GUACAMOLE, is this beer, or brandy? Alcohol bite is quite fierce, overpowering the fruity and yeasty components. A fine beer if you like brandy, but it packs quite a wallop - this will knock you on your ***. Texture is smooth and fairly fizzy, but the alcohol bite is as fierce as an angry Rottweiler. Fine for barleywine and brandy lovers - this beer is not for the faint of heart!
