The beer is Stone Imperial Russian Stout, and it was aged for about a year in a used bourbon barrel. From that wooden cask, we were only able to keg up very little.

GABF 2012, this was 2008 version
Appearance: Pitch black with a small tan head
Aroma of dark roast, bourbon, vanilla and oak
Taste of bourbon, vanilla, oak, woody and molasses
This was great, went back for multiple samples of this. Smooth and very easy drinking.

Beer number two for me at GABF 2012. This 2008 vintage pours black with a mocha colored head of foam with sort of tan looking swirls here and there. The aroma is rich, sweet, smooth and bourbony to go along with dark roasted malts and a sense of spicy black licorice in the background. The taste is similar with a solid degree of smooth bourbon surrounded thinly by dark roasted malts and a pleasing sense of chocolate. This is rich and sweet and not fully bourbony and has a pleasing balance.
