With roots dating back to 1295, St. Stefanus Blonde is the original abbey beer contracted to the Van Steenberge Brewery. To this day, it’s brewed with three different yeasts and matured for at least three months. This speciality Belgian Blonde beer is an unpasteurised, high fermented beer that is then refermented in the bottle. As we age our beer, we constantly check to make sure it is maturing. Our Master Brewer holds regular tastings and will only release a batch when he decides it’s ready. Some of our abbey beers are stored in the cellar for longer than others. This is because our brewing process allows the beer to continue maturing for up to two and a half years. We encourage you to do the same so you can discover the different ages for yourself.

Bottle I got popped like New Year’s champagne, but didn’t fizz too much. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a fairly thick and frothy pale buff head. Flavor has fruity notes of pear and banana, plus hints of malt and butterscotch and a snip of hops. Texture is smooth and fairly fizzy, average but acceptable. A truly refreshing beer to take the edge off the heat of the day.

pours a thick off-white head, eventually the clear orange body comes up with strands of racing microbubbles. The aroma is a mineral and club soda and has a nice full yeasty aroma with some fruity characteristics. The taste is dry slightly fruity yeast with a nice soft green note in the finish and a dry banana ester coming through as the beer opens. There is a light white bread flavor underneath and some hints of more yeast character as it opens but it stays subtle even though it has some nice complexity. The mouthfeel is light with no alcohol noticed and there is a nice crisp texture in the finish.

Cool - nice little surprise here. Bready aroma, with nice fruit and spice as well. Clean and crisp flavor, yet complex. Probably one of the better Belgian "blondes" I've had. Yeasty. Doesn't do anything different, just does it well.

Pours a hazy orange with a foamy orange-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of grain, fruits, and hints of alcohol. Taste is of grain, fruit, yeast, slight spice, and alcohol. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is quite tasty and easy to drink
