The collectable label on Winter Welcome Ale this year celebrates the centenary of the Flying Scotsman. The locomotive was built in Doncaster, South Yorkshire and went into service on 24th February 1923. The loco was designed by Sir Nigel Gresley and was one of the most powerful locos of its time. In 1934 it recorded 100mph – the first steam loco in the UK to achieve that speed. The loco is now owned by the National Railway Museum in York where it can sometimes be seen, however it is still operational on special chartered journeys enabling some lucky voyagers to travel by steam on this most famous loco. Raise a glass of Winter Welcome Ale to celebrate its centenary!

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7
Pours clear caramel with a thick, frothy parchment head. Aroma presents toasty malt, spice, caramel and a hint of horehound. Flavor delivers nutmeg, ginger, toasted malt, caramel and a horehound hint. Texture gives decent body and peppy fizz. Happy New Year!
