JLS Release #6: Schwarzbier ~ which translates to Black Beer, is a German lager, very dark brown in color with a tan colored head. Coffee aromas mingled with nutty malt and a touch of caramel grace the nose. The palette is rich, smooth and clean, very malty with roasted notes apparent. The finish is lingering with a touch of residual sweetness and very mildly bitter. Specifications: O.G. 12.2 degrees plato, T.G. 2.2 degrees plato, IBU = 25, ABV ~ 5.2%. Schawrtzbeir is brewed with Palt Malt, Crystal 60, Munich, Carafoam special; German tradition & Oregon grown Sterling hops. Lagered for 6 weeks after it is attenuated with Czech Pilsner yeast. This beer is unfiltered ~ Prost!

    Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 10

Pours an opaque chocolaty sable with a thick, fine-bubbled dark tan head. Rich aroma is like fine roast coffee with strong chocolate and smoky undertones. Mouth filling mocha like flavor has a smoky overtone, strong hint of molasses, and a touch of sweetness as well as just a little bitterness. Texture is edgy and jazzy.
