We named our Irish Red Ale after the infamous Irish immigrant-turned trail guide, Angus O'Leary, affectionately known as "Red". Red, an orphan, had been adopted by the Delaware Indians back east and arrived in Kansas City when the tribe was relocated to Indian Territory (Kansas). Some say he was nicknamed "Red" because of his fiery red mustache. Some said it was due to the color his face turned when he lost money in a "friendly" game of poker. Regardless of the reason, Red was a savior for those heading west during the 1849 gold rush. We carefully blend three special selected caramel malts in order to give this beer its distinctive red hue. We counter the sweetness of our two-row malt with the addition of Cluster, Williamette, and Cascade hops making this Irish Red Ale our most balanced beer.

good head with a red deep color - very attractive looking brew, but taste was too hoppy and something was missing I thought. not sure I'd drink this again.
