Terrapin Brewing returns for a second year as a production partner for Reunion ’10. We brew Reunion each year in memory of our dear friend and partner in this venture - Virginia MacLean. Virginia lost her battle with Multiple Myeloma in 2007. It was her wish that we continue to raise funds and awareness on behalf of The Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research (www.imbcr.org). This year’s beer is a Belgian-style Scotch Ale - a nod to Virginia’s Scotch heritage. The beer boasts a deep amber color with a rich malt palate and subdued hop notes in the finish. We used an authentic Trappist Belgian yeast strain for complexity and it is brewed to an original gravity of 1078 and has 30 units of bitterness. Many thanks to all who have supported this project and helped us honor Virginia’s memory. Cheers - Pete & Alan

a nice sweetish malt profile of plums, and a hint of peat. the belgian aspect has taken a back seat. 10 month old bottle. looks nice, a pleasant quaffer.

Had at the end of a tasting, shared a bottle with The Giffer! .. . Pours a hazy gold tan .. good foam .. . lightly spiced, nuts, and maple .. . pretty easy to put down, i like the bird .. . You want my advice? Well, I'm not gonna give it to ya.

Pours dark brown with a low tan head. Aroma is tinny. Mouthfeel is spicy. Flavor is distinct - definitely getting the clove and wood. All around good, but not my fave.

Comes out of the tap a dark, rich, warm, barely transparent mahogany with a decent pale tan head - very appetizing. Lively, spicy aroma has hints of caramel and wood. Strong flavor is spicy, malty and nutty with tones of cloves and caramel and a woody hint. Smooth, fizzy texture leaves behind a nice tingle, while spicy and nutty flavors linger.
