If you ever lay your eyes on these barrels, you’ll understand why we call this beer “Shipwrecked.” These barrels have been from Kentucky to Ireland and back, landing ultimately in Blanco, and the signs of travel show vividly on their surface. That being said, it’s the inside we are interested in! Our strong scotch ale, Real Heavy, was aged in these barrels for 6 months. An aroma of slightly tart, dark fruit, and hints of vanilla mark the nose. The flavor follows up with the classic scotch ale caramel malt flavor, dark fruit, and a sweetly subtle whiskey barrel character.

A sour Scottish style ale, Aromas of wood, sour vinegar, and some dark fruits, perhaps cherry. Deep dark brown body, thin frothy cap that settles to a thin ring, some spotty lace left behind. Flavor similar to the aroma, not strong or overwhelming. Overall a nice enough beer, a bit odd, but not bad.
