Dark and mysterious, this 150th Batch of Pisgah beer is a tribute to our homebrew roots. Combining the rich chocolate flavor of a Baltic Porter with the subtleness of a special Belgian yeast strain, the Cosmos is born... Batch #150

This poured a black color with a beige head. The aroma contains some chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, and spices. The flavor is sweet but not overly so with some chocolate, caramel, and grapes. A slightly sour aftertaste. Overall a nice and different beer.

Sampled on 9/15/08. This Baltic Porter pours a eclipse black color form a corked 750ml bottle. Medium sized beige foamy head with nice retention. The aroma is chocolate and coffee, with some must and yeast. A medium bodied Baltic Porter. The malts are dark chocolate and some coffee. Not very sweet, yet there is some dark fruit and bread as well. The hops are earthy and spicy. It’s not a Baltic Porter and yet it’s also not a Belgian ale, it is more of a cross between the two. It has that nice chocolate flavor and breadiness yet it also has some dark fruit, yeast and funkiness. Touch of tobacco and smoke as well. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Great sipping beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
