The darkest of Pisgah brews, the beer formerly known as Vortex II took a significant transformation when Pisgah brewers added a heavy dose (5lbs per barrel!) of raw cocoa nibs to the brite tanks, thus creating what will now only be known as "Chocolatized". Congratulations to the brewers, as this Russian Imperial Stout aged on cocoa nibs brought home a coveted Gold Medal at the 2014 Great American Beer Festival in the Chocolate Beer Category

Pours dark chocolate with a thick tan head. Aroma delivers rich semi-sweet chocolate, roast malt, earthy and subtle coffee tones. Flavor produces rich and sensuous chocolate, roast malt, bitter piney hops, coffee and earthy and slight molasses notes. Texture brings firm, smooth body and peppy fizz. Get chocolatized!
