Raven Ale is a classic bitter ale: complex and rewarding whilst remaining refreshing and easy to drink on any occasion. On the nose, this black stout has a smooth roasted malt aroma giving bitter chocolate, dark roasted coffee and smokey notes balanced by hints of spicy Goldings hop. On the palate, the dark roasted malts combine to give a rich, rounded palate with chocolate, toast and nut flavours, with a satisfying spicy hop finish. Appearance A mid golden colour with a light creamy head Aroma Orange, lemon and fresh apple aromas, together with a spicy tanginess, dominate the appealing aroma of Raven Ale Palate Raven Ale’s dominant malt character is a balance between juicy pale ale malt and a biscuity, toasty malt flavour; this gives way to a clean, spicy orange bitterness Key Ingredients The very best pale ale malt and a touch of crystal and amber malts give Raven its complex malt undertones, complemented by the bitterness and dried orange or spicy orange character of Fuggles and Goldings hops

500 ml bottle, bought at Peckham’s, Glasgow. ABV is 3.8%. Amber colour, large off-white head, leaves a nice lacing. Malty aroma with notes of caramel, some fruit too. The flavour has a decent balance between malts and hops, notes of toffee and moderate fruit, hoppy finish. Quite good.

Bottled. Orange colour, mediumsized white head. Bitter citric aroma with some skunky notes. Weak maltish flavour with bitterish hoppy finish. Not that special in anyway. Rich carbonation.
