American oak plays a predominant role in Woodcut No. 3. Crystal, and Cara malts marry with Munich malts to create a pleasing red hue and a satisfying sweetness. Notes of raisin, rich caramel and toasted almond complement the hop pairing as a prominent oak aroma completes it all. Each Woodcut offering is a truly limited-edition beer made with select hops, fine malted barley and our brewers careful aging process. 11.0% Alc. By Vol.

Look! I'm "Zippy" Longstocking!.. been wanting to try this for ages, thanks Tom .. . Pours a molasses plum, medium foam, great glue lacing .. . not even a hot pocket? an eggo? .. . quite a tasty brew- molasses, syrup, oak, vanilla, and wood .. . it has what the french call, an 'i don't know what' .. . i enjoyed it .. . All right. Zip it.

Amber brown body, filmy head that sticks around. Toasted bread, toffee, caramel, wood, and subtle spices abound in this moderately complex offering. Sturdy and approachable, a pleasant glass to enjoy.

750ml bottle, dated 11/2009 bottle number 6380. Pours a murky brown with ruby highlights. It has a huge rocky off-white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet caramel malts and cola with a little resiny piney hops and a touch of cinnamon. As it warms some green apples and alcohol come out.
The flavor is sweet caramel malts and some fruit, wood and molasses leading toward a lightly resiny, slightly plastic, hop finish that has a good amount of bitterness. The alcohol is a bit hot. The mouthfeel is full bodied with smooth velvety carbonation.
Overall, this is probably my least favorite woodcut so far. It's still interesting and worth a try though
