Our brewer’s created an unpretentious, yet sophisticated brown ale. Then they plotted, and dosed this full-bodied ale with brettanomyces, the ultimate adversary of wineries. Embracing this vintner’s nemesis resulted in a complex and wonderfully drinkable beer. Intense earthy undertones, and notes of vanilla and pineapple come together with a sour silhouette. Aged in American oak barrels.

The beer poured a ruddy brown. The flavor and the aroma contained both fruity sour notes and a sweet, almost vanilla undertone. The mouthfeel was medium with some detectible hop spice in the flavor.

The flavor and how the whole thing comes together by the end of the glass is why this is such a great beer. The initial smells throw you off, not the best smelling of the brett beers I've had, sour milk. Mouthfeel and flavor are explosive though and by the end the smell actually enhances the experience and makes this one to remember. Thanks to pfoxyjohn and all his hospitality.

i want a hot pink center, ..don't we all .. . Pours a murky tawny brown, medium foam .. . uggh, this was all over the place, muddled.. it seems like they tried to just do a brown ale and it got infected and they just bottled it and called it a fancy name .. . Odell can do so much better .. . I've got a blackbelt in akido -- and the boots to match.

Wow! Given to me by my good old buddy caddylac. Getting ready to return the favor, but not sure how to do it after this brew! Stellar taste, shared with my buddy on his birthday. Pours a dark muddy brown, giant off white head. Aroma is boozy (that's what i like). But strong fermented fruits, yeasty and spicey notes on the nose. Taste equally boozy, but clean. Spices and slight sour notes ont the palate. Really interesting beer. Not sure what style it is, but it's intriguing.

aroma woodsy vanilla, a hint of odd citrus (pineapple?) a touch of the farmhouse (brett), some malt. smooth but prickly carbonation. nice looking dark reddish-brown color. very complex flavor. contemplative. brett a touch more in the flavor. solid.

bottle into a snifter @ Capone's Poured a dark reddish-brown with a tan two-finger head. Lacing was thinner than expected but with good retention. Nose was dark fruit, vanilla, brett, oak, some funk and boozy. Taste was dark fruit, cherries, some vanilla and defintely some mildly sour, fruity back. There is some hint of cocoa. Mouthfeel is on the thinner side, not much carbonation and warming on the finish. I love this brewer but this was not a personal favorite. The funkiness and alcohol overwhelmed for me, although I will definitely try this again to be sure.

750ml bottle. Pours a dark opaque brown with a large bubbly rocky off white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is musty earthy yeast with a tart acidic sourness and lots of brett in the background.
The flavor is sweet sugary chocolate and caramel malts up front with some dark fruits that leads to an acidic brettiness in the finish with notes of bitter leather. As it warms some vanilla comes out. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, this didn't taste as good as the times I've had it on draft. This is maltier and sweeter with the weird leathery notes. The draft version seemed milder (lower alcohol?) with more brett present.
