Pours a dark copper colour with a beige head and thin creamy lace. The nose is a blend of roasted, caramel malts with hints of sourness, fruitiness and chocolate. The taste is lightly bitter over the roasted malts. Nutty flavours lingers. The mouthfeel is a nice balance between wet at first and a little dry in the finish. A decent dark ale with just a little more hops than most, and not a black IPA.

On tap at the Ottawa brewpub. Pours a small frothy beige head and has a fairly clear amber appearance with ruby highlights. Some decent sticky lacing. Aromas of toasted malts. Flavours are mainly toasty malts, earthy and resin hops. A bit of a rusty like finish. Slick and drying sensation on the palate. A little bit of a disappointment.
